Yo-Chi – Seasonal Kids Yoga

YogiClaire now offers kids seasonal yoga classes called Yo-Chi. My classes are suitable for kids aged between 4 and 9 years old.

Yo-Chi is a fusion of seasonal yoga, Tai Chi, Chi Gung and has influences from the traditional Chinese medicine system. Within the classes we work with the energy of whatever season of the year we happen to be in at the time. In the Chinese system there are 6 seasons (winter, spring, early summer, summer, late summer and autumn). Each season has an element (water, wood, fire, earth and metal) and a pair of organs associated with it.

A typical Yo-Chi class consists of a selection of yoga practice, Tai Chu, Chi Gung, breathing, drama, games, campfire stories and relaxation. Yo-Chi teaches the kids about their bodies by exploring their organs, via character names, and a main character called Morgan (a cartoon child character, who has a body and organs just like us), and the functions these organs perform in the body, and how the kids can best look after them. We learn about the season we are currently in and explore what is going on in nature. The kids build strength, flexibility and endurance, via the yoga poses and sequences we practice. We also practice suitable breathing techniques for children, helping them to build techniques they can use to control and manage their emotions. The kids are kept engaged throughout the class with games and a campfire story, which includes drama and yoga poses throughout.

The classes are currently online and run on a monthly fee system basis.

If you have any questions or would like to book your child into a class please get in touch or book in via the schedule below.

I look forward to hearing from you.
